NIVC Services, Inc. fulfills its mission through three distinct businesses, Affordables, JobLink, and the Work Center. Affordables is a resale store that provides retail training and employment for individuals with disabilities. Skill training covers all aspects of the retail industry including operating the cash register, stocking merchandise, helping customers, accepting donations, and preparing donated items for resale. ‘Affordables on 1st’ provides work experiences through the resale of furniture, fitness, and furnishings. JobLink is the community employment division of NIVC Services. It is located at our downtown location, 315 N. Delaware, next door to Affordables. JobLink provides comprehensive services for employers as well as job seekers. We can place employees directly with a business or offer outsourcing labor solutions in a variety of fields. NIVC Production Services Department in the Work Center employs and trains individuals with disabilities with work contracted with local businesses.
History:
NIVC Services, Inc. was incorporated in 1969 as a not for profit corporation to serve people with disabilities in Mason City, Iowa and the surrounding North Iowa area. Services are provided in Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Mitchell, Winnebago, and Worth Counties. Expanded services to Butler, Grundy, Hardin, Bremer were added in 2005. Over the years, NIVC Services, Inc. has continuously expanded and improved its services to meet the unique employment needs of its clients, helping them lead more productive and fulfilling lives. Currently nearly half of the clients are diagnosed with a developmental disability and most the other clients' list mental illness as their major disability.
