The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Having Cancer is Hard, Finding help shouldn't be. The American Cancer society serves those with cancer through local services, information and support, our web-site and phone line are available to provide information and support 24 hours a day, every day. We fund research to prevent, detect and treat cancer.
History:
The American Cancer Society was founded in 1913. Since then our goal is to fight back against cancer. Our research has help provide information on early detection and treatment of cancer. Our staff and volunteers provide direct services and referrals to other programs, we provide support and education.
