As an assistant in the classroom you will support the educational development of low income 0-3 year-olds in the Dakota County Early Head Start. Classrooms consist of 8 children and 2 teachers. Our volunteers spend time interacting with children individually and in group settings. You may be playing dress-up, reading books, doing puzzles, helping the children with lunch, rocking them to sleep or playing on the playground. Our classroom volunteers provide a great service to our staff and children. The staff and volunteer are better able to spend one-on-one time with the children. Adult interaction is a very important part of child development during this prime time in childrens lives. We would love to have you as a classroom volunteer! If you are interested in volunteering for our program you need to fill out an application at the center including a background check. We will also do a short training with you and give you a tour of the center. You will be required to get a TB test and simple physical from our nurse. Following this you would be ready to get started in the classroom! This opportunity is sponsored by: Siouxland Family Community Center
