Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouting is a leadership development program designed for girls 5-17 years of age, supported by trained and caring adult volunteers. Girl Scouts: Lenni-Lenape Council also operates Lake Rickabear Girl Scout Day Camp.

Description:
Girl Scouts is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls -- all girls -- everywhere. In an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. Girl Scouts are developing self-worth, learning new skills, exploring a wide range of opportunities, making lasting friendships, and having fun!

The organization seeks to give all girls in northern NJ the opportunity to realize their full potential. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Our jurisdiction includes Passaic and Sussex counties, as well as, parts of Morris, Bergen and Warren counties. Our council is divided into thirty-eight service units; the largest in terms of girls served is the Paterson Service Unit.

Last year, Girl Scouts: Lenni-Lenape Council, Inc. delivered the Girl Scout program to 12,000 girls in more than 900 troops and other groups in 61 municipalities in Northern New Jersey. Adult volunteers, all screened, trained and monitored by council staff, assist these girls in a variety of planned activities, trips, and special events.

History:
Incorporated in 1968, Girl Scouts: Lenni-Lenape Council, Inc. is one of 317 Girl Scout councils in the United States. Girl Scouts is a contemporary movement that helps girls discover fun, friendship and the power of girls together. Today there are 3.7 million Girl Scouts; 2.7 million girl members and 915,000 adult members.
