WE, THE C.A.T. VOLUNTEERS, of Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue Community Assistance Team, are committed to providing the residents, guests, and visitors in our community added value in emergency service by providing emotional support during their time of crisis. We also commit ourselves to supporting the efforts of the emergency responders by assisting the community with non-emergency needs through partnering agencies specifically designed to aid in instances of need.
Description:
The Community Assistance Team utilizes volunteers to assist first responders in providing the public emotional support during the time of a crisis. Volunteers also work with the public in seeking and obtaining assistance from local agency's for continued care and guidance long after the crisis. Volunteers can choose to work directly with the public and first responders in a "field capacity" or they may choose to work in an administrative capacity by organizing, administering, and following up on cases from the field.
History:
The Community Assistance Team is a program within Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for the purpose of providing extended service to the general public. The program has been operational since 2004 with 20 active members.
