The American Cancer Society raises money in the Town of Palm Beach Unit to fund national cancer research efforts, legislative advocacy efforts at the state and national level and patient service programs locally and throughout the state of Florida.
Description:
The Town of Palm Beach Unit raises in excess of $3million dollars annually to fund critical medical research, advocacy efforts, a multitude of patient services and ongoing cancer education and prevention programs. The Palm Beach Unit's Annual Ball will be held at Mar-a-Lago on February 8, 2008. This year will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Ball and is sure to be a spectacular evening featuring the finest wine, culinary delights and entertainment. The Palm Beach Unit's other fundraising event is the 19th Hole Club Golf Luncheon which will be held at The Flagler Steakhouse in March or April of 2008.
History:
The American Cancer Society was founded in the early 1900s and gives more money to cancer research than any entity except the federal government. The Society's efforts in funding scientists have resulted in 40 of those scientists going on to win the nobel prize.
