History:
In 1996, Roger A. Fachini Sr. launched the first pilot Musical Instrument Donation Drive, as a fundraiser, while performing his duties as President/CEO of the Macomb Symphony Orchestra in Clinton Township Michigan. While the program was well received, the request for Instruments far exceeded the donations, and the program was suspended. From 1997 through 2003 several prominent Michigan businessman anonymously carried on the tradition of supplying Musical Instruments to the needy. Since his retirement as Staff Industrial Engineer from General Dynamics Land Systems in 2003, Mr. Fachini has devoted his time and energy toward establishing Charity Music, Inc. as the premier all volunteer organization dedicated to the recycling, repair, and distribution of Musical Instruments to individuals in need, who wish to explore their hidden Musical Talents. Having received nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in January 2006 (retroactive to January 2005) the organization currently has volunteers in over 36 of the 50 states.
