To offer christian understanding, compassion, and a sense of belonging to those whose needs may be physical, psychological, social, financial, and or spiritual in nature by providing a full range of housing and other related community services directed to the elderly and contribute to the wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.

Description:
Westminster Village is a Continuing Care Retirement Center (CCRC) located in East Allentown. We have several levels of care, including Independent Living Apartments, Skilled Nursing beds, and Adult Day Care Programs. Volunteers are used to transport residents from their rooms to services in-house; occupational therapy, physical therapy, hair dresser and to activities. Activities use most of the volunteers helping with the programs during the day. Training is available so that volunteers understand the reasons why they are needed. Our new thrust is to better serve the dementia population which is growing daily. We are using the Montessori method of teaching, which helps to reinforce the capabilities of each resident, giving them the feeling of accomplishment rather than focusing on what they no longer can do. As a result, we see more progress in the residents and less agitation.
Volunteers are also used in the daily program of the Adult Day Programs. This includes assisting with the serving of breakfast and cleaning up, assisting with the programs of the day - games: Trivia, Bingo, Horse racing, and tennis to name a few; discussions, trips to restaurants and picnics, and then serving of lunch and cleaning up and often entertainment in the afternoon. This is a very active program and an excellent volunteer position.
Special events are always a great time and volunteers can do set-up and decorate, transport residents and assist them to enjoy the activity.
We hope that volunteering in our agency will give you a positive attitude of aging, and appreciation of their lives and accomplishments and a sense of pride in helping them lead an active life even though they are limited.
