Family Centers is a leading human service organization with offices in Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan and Stamford. More than 500 professionals and trained volunteers provide a wide range of education and human service programs to children and families in Fairfield and Westchester counties. Our mission is to empower children, adults, families and communities to realize their potential.

Description:
As families face challenging issues around school bullying, teen alcohol and drug use, divorce, HIV/AIDS or even the effects of terrorism, the agency acts as a strong force for growth and healing. In many instances, Family Centers' professionals are called upon to provide individual and group psychotherapy, marital counseling, family therapy, parent and life coaching, substance abuse counseling or child abuse prevention counseling. Over the years, in response to community need and demand, Family Centers has developed a number of specialized programs and currently offers over 25 programs. Some of these programs include TLC-Nurturing Families program, The Den For Grieving Kids, Reaching Independence Through Employment (RITE), Early Childhood Education and Head Start Programs, Friendly Connections Telephone Classes for seniors, employee assistance programs, wellness and prevention programs, as well as a variety of programs to strengthen families.

History:
Family Centers' history of providing valuable services to the people of Fairfield County dates back to 1891. Through partnerships with boards of education, public and private schools, Parent Teacher Associations, Junior Leagues, the United Ways, Stamford Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, local housing authorities, police departments, town governments, commissions and numerous businesses and nonprofit organizations, Family Centers is committed to delivering quality human services to children and families.
