History:
Adopt-A-Family was founded in 1983 by three local women who recognized the need to help families who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to a financial reversal, illness, divorce, death or other extenuating circumstances. The agency was incorporated as a 501 (c)(3)organization in 1984. Adopt-A-Family is a local, Palm Beach County organization that utilizes a "whole-istic" approach by providing all-encompassing services designed to empower families, and offer solutions for self-sufficiency through all-inclusive educational programs. Families with children served by Adopt-A-Family fall into the following categories: single parents who receive no child support; the working poor who do not earn enough money to support their families and may be at risk of becoming homeless; homeless children and their families; and families facing major medical illness.
