Description:
The South Florida Science Museum, a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, has long been an authority for providing children and families with direct access to science specific education. Either through visits to the Museum or through the outreach programs, the Museum continues to educate and enlighten all visitors. This access provides a direct link for those inspired by and curious about science.

History:
Nestled in central Palm Beach County, Florida, the South Florida Science Museum has afforded the communities of Palm Beach County, as well as the surrounding areas, with direct access to the exciting and amazing world of science. Founded and incorporated in 1959 by the Junior League of the Palm Beaches the South Florida Science Museum opened its doors to the community in 1961 as a learning environment specific to the areas of natural science and natural history. Today, the South Florida Science Museum has grown in structure, as well as in its offerings, and is the host to an annual average of 135,000 visitors, with an additional annual average of 20,000 children being encouraged to learn through the outreach programs conducted by the Museum’s Education Department. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, interactive learning environment, and enthusiastic team, the South Florida Science Museum provides an assortment of fascinating permanent exhibits such as an Egypt gallery - the temporary home to a verified mummy, ‘Suzie’ the Mastodon, Florida fossils, shells, rocks and minerals collections, McGinty Aquarium, Buzz Aldrin Planetarium, outdoor science and nature trail, as well as fascinating traveling exhibits.
