Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Description: The Salvation Army provides food, clothing, shelter and basic furnishings. We also distribute toys and presents to hundreds of families during the Christmas season. We are essentially a Youth Center. We currently have several strong youth programs(i.e. Band,Mentoring, Sports Ministry, Basketball Teams, and After School Programs). History: We have been serving the Lake County Gary/Merrillville since 1912. We provide a safe place for worship for those who are interested in finding a church family.
