The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Description:
The Salvation Army East Chicago Corps serve the East Chicago, Harbor and Whiting people and residents with low or not income at all. Our main resources assist them in: Hot meal (Heart Line Program), Groceries (Food Pantry Program), and Electricity/Gas (Heating Program). We also provide Christmas Assistance through Angel Tree Program.
History:
We are serving East Chicago community since 1920. In the year 2006 we served 22,200 hot meals. In 2007, we served more than 27,000 free hot meal. We help more than 300 families with the Heating Program in the last 12 months.
