Providing meaningful volunteer opportunities & projects for 55 + citizens, while providing volunteer service to worthwhile organizations.RSVP volunteers serve @ local hospitals, nursing facilities, medical groups, nutrition sites, libraries, schools, museums, senior centers, thrift shops, sew afghans & blankets, and donate time on RSVP SPECIAL PROJECTS: CHILDREN'S VISION SCREENING, LAPORTE COUNTY TRIAD, and the WHEELCHAIR RAMP AND MINOR HOME REPAIR for the elderly & handicapped.
Description:
RSVP coordinates volunteer service between community volunteer sites and volunteers, RSVP primarily addresses volunteer needs of residents, 55 years of age and older, however, many of our volunteer projects involve and encourage community volunteers of all ages. RSVP service covers all communities & areas of LaPorte and Starke Counties. RSVP projects address specific community needs of the very young children to the very elderly.
History:
RSVP OF LAPORTE/STARKE CO is a program of the Corporation for National & Community Service, locally sponsored by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Gary, and has been serving the local area for 31 years. In 2007, 330 RSVP volunteers served 47,234 volunteer hours, which equates to $886,582 of service returned to the communities.
