The Compassionate Friends Invite You To Come Volunteer at our Walk and Butterflies Release!
| Last updated on May 15, 2008 |
Since early times, the butterfly has symbolized renewed life. The caterpillar signifies life here on earth; the cocoon, death; and the butterfly, the emergence of the dead into a new, beautiful and freer existence. Parents who have suffered the loss of a child/children see the butterfly as a symbol - a sign that their children are living in another dimension with greater beauty and freedom- a comforting thought to many. This event will be held at Lemon Lake County Park in Cedar Lake, Indiana on Sunday August 24th at 12:00. The Compassionate Friends Lake & Porter County Chapter need your help and expertise with our event! We are looking for science teachers or anyone with experience in raising butterflies to conduct a workshop for our volunteers that are interested in learning how to raise them for our mass release. With your help, together we'll create a spectacular Butterflies Release for The Compassionate Friends Lake & Porter County 2008 Celebration of Life, "Walk to Remember". We also need the following positions filled at our table/booth: Registration -filled, thank you! Raffle tickets - filled, thank you! T-shirt distribution- filled, thank you! Lemonade stand - filled, thank you! Learn to breed butterflies for our mass release! Open!

The Compassionate Friends help bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings through their grief by acknowegement, acceptance, and compassion. We acknowlege that life will never be the same after the loss of a child/sibling. We accept that there is no way to fix the pain, but talking to other parents/siblings who have experienced the same loss helps the bereaved parent/sibling know that someone really understands, will be there to support them, cares, and wants to help. posted by carolcastaneda on March 29, 2008 |
