Hilltop Artists In Residence
Last updated on June 5, 2008

Logo

Our mission is to use glass art to connect young people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds to better futures. Hilltop Artists in Residence provides glass blowing and glass arts opportunities, in combination with academic support, to build on the creative strengths of youth. Our students remain in school, improve their social and technical skills, and become assets to our community with hope for their future.

History:
Tacoma Public Schools and Dale Chihuly were instrumental in helping the HART program take shape in 1994. Today the program reaches out to approximately 500 students annually with tuition-free glass classes during the school day, after school, evenings and summer. They also benefit from HART’s Alternative Education program, tutoring and mentoring.
