Mission of Families Unlimited Network: To draw families into supportive relationships that foster well-being and stability. Vision: Families Unlimited Network will act as an agent for change for all the families drawn to our services. We will be a voice for those we serve, educating our community, and advocating on behalf of those families that desire to break the cycle of poverty and life choices that limit their created potential. We will model and sustain healthy relationships as we provide direct services. We will be fully available to partner and will actively mobilize a faith-based response to provide supportive services to at-risk families. We will be known in this community for our ability to care for people in their time of need. The best outcome of our services would be for those families to become healthy functioning families that not only thrive, but also become contributing members of our community who share their unique strengths and skills with others.
Description:
Families Unlimited Network has three core programs: the University Place Food Bank, the SPOT After School Program, and Family Services. The University Place food bank is a volunteer driven program with one paid staff acting as the Food Bank Director who manages the volunteer base needed for pick-ups and operates two shifts a week. The food bank utilizes a shopper service style to uphold the dignity of the guests at the food bank. The SPOT after school program serves students in 5th-7th grade. Students are given a nutritious snack, tutored in their homework, participate in recreational activities, and are encouraged to develop positive character traits. The Family Services program utilizes a strength-based case management approach engaging families in three phases. Phase 1 provides basic needs like rent/utility assistance, gas vouchers, etc. Phase 2 engages families with intermediate services that links families with short-term social services that can help meet their daily needs. Phase 3 is the development of a family stabilization plan and the long-term engagement of the family that includes a whole-life, whole-family approach.
