The Daffodil Valley Elementary Great Pathways After- School Program is committed to ensuring the academic, recreational and social growth of elementary-aged children. This is accomplished through providing a safe, positive and nurturing out-of-school environment which includes quality tutoring and enrichment programs.
Description:
Our program begins immediately after school and runs for two hours. The sequence of activities is as follows: snack, recess, homework time (45 min.), enrichment activity time (45 min.). We offer approximately 6 different enrichment activities for the children to choose from. We have anywhere between 50-80 children in the program, all of whom are students at Daffodil Valley Elementary. The program is offered free-of-cost to the students and their families. We are funded through a federal 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant.
History:
This is the second year of Daffodil Valley Elementary's After-School program. The grant which funds the program is contracted for five years. The evaluation report of the program's first year concluded that the program had a strong first year and was succeeding in making a positive difference in the lives of the children it served.
