Our mission is to assist economically disadvantaged job seekers transition to financial independence. We are committed to assisting clients in building self-confidence, enhancing self-esteem, and acquiring professional attire. Our primary focus is assisting women. We operate an on-site boutique stocked with interview appropriate clothing and accessories for women.
Description:
Suited for Success is a community based, non-profit agency focusing on women's employment issues. We work with women referred by agencies that identify and assist low income job seekers. We help clients improve their personal presentation skills and professional appearance so they can find good jobs and keep them. We provide workshops that focus on assessing personal image, building self-esteem, selecting appropriate interview clothing, examining attitudes, communicating effectively, grooming for the workplace and more. Women referred to our services can also select interview or work clothing, shoes and accessories at our boutique of professional attire donated by women in the community who support this program and its outreach.
History:
Suited for Success has been helping low-income women in the Pierce County area get ready for job interviewing for over 15 years. Started in 1993 under the name "New Options", its name was later changed to "Suited for Success". Referrals to our weekly workshop come from: Employment Security Department's Work First programs; abuse shelters; chemical dependency treatment centers; community jobs programs, and vocational rehabilitation programs and other agencies. Since 1993, thousands of women have been helped by this program.
