Lutheran Community Services Northwest partners with individuals, families, and communities for health, justice, and hope.
Description:
Lutheran Community Services provides services for seniors and people with disabilities, such as long and short term in home care, Meals on Wheels, and Respite and Companion Care. We also provide Domestic Violence Family Services, in partnership with the YWCA and the Domestic Violence Coalition, counseling victims of domestic violence. In addition to this, our Families for Kids program recruits and supports foster and adoptive parents throughout Washington State. For more information about any of our programs, visit our web site, or call 253/272-8433.
History:
Founded in 1921, the Lutheran Welfare Society was originally based in downtown Tacoma. At that time it's mission was working with the down and out. Today, we are located in Tacoma's North End, and while our name has changed,we continue to work for health, justice and hope through out the area.
