Exodus Housing strives to eliminate homelessness for families in South King and East Pierce Counties by providing transitional housing and supportive services designed to help family stability and independence.
Description:
Homeless families are moved into their own apartment or house for a period of 12 to 24 months. All families meet at least twice a month with a Case Manager to work to overcome the barriers they have for a stable and self-sufficient life for their family. Families also work with community volunteers who mentor with a family helping them as the family works on their individual goals. Exodus Housing has three different programs including "Safe Choices" which is exclusively for families who are homeless due to domestic violence.
History:
Exodus Housing was created by a local Sumner businessman who saw a need for more help for homeless families in South King and East Pierce County. The agency opened it's doors in 1994. In 2006 approximately 82% of the families who exited resolved significant barriers to self-sufficiency and were able to move into permanent housing.
