The vision of NSTEP is academic and social success for every child; preparing students to establish life-long goals, to have healthy relationships, and to contribute to their communities. The mission of NSTEP is to provide a Neighborhood Student Tutoring and Enhancement program to elementary, middle and high school students.
Description:
NSTEP, an educational program of St. John Church, provides after-school tutoring for students in grades 1 - 12. Tutoring is at St. John Church during the school year. Summer Camp and Summer Jump are our educational summer programs. Summer Camp is for elementary students, ages 5-11. Summer Camp also provides all-day daycare for working families: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Summer Jump is for middle and high school students, located at the University of Washington Tacoma.
History:
NSTEP has provided after-school tutoring for six years, increasing reading and math skills. This is our fourth year for our summer programs. For over 50 years St. John has served urban Tacoma. We provide services for youth, families, and the elderly. We have been socially active in the community for over 50 years.
