The Washington Reading Corps, or WRC, is a state wide organization dedicated to giving struggling students the extra attention they need to improve upon their reading skills. Volunteers with the WRC provide a vital and valuable service to students: they listen and encourage all children without judgment.
Description:
With your help WRC and Jennie Reed Elementary are dedicated to improving the reading skills of all students over the course of the school year. Just an hour a week on a regular basis can help a student improve in reading. Jennie Reed has many positions available for volunteers either in one-on-one or small group settings, as well as in the classroom or in a more private environment. All volunteers will receive training on tutoring K-5 students and will be able to choose a position based upon their particular interests. Volunteers must pass a background check before working with students.
