The Family Justice Center is a comprehensive victim- centered domestic violence program. The Center's mission is to provide secure, confidential, comprehensive services to any domestic violence victim and their children
Description:
The Family Justice Center will enhance the community's response to domestic violence by centralizing services to victims and their families. The Center's partners will include law enforcement, prosecutors, non-profit victim agencies,civil legal advocates,faith based programs,counseling providers,translation services and more all within one block of the County-City Building. The Center will provide a safe,non threatening environment where non-criminal justice advocates/staff will assist victims with a multitude of issues including safety planning,navigating the various community systems,state/local services and court procedures.
History:
The Family Justice Center is based on a successful model out of San Diego, California.The Family Justice Center is a joint partnership between the City of Tacoma and Pierce County. This partnership was solidified when these two entities signed the inter-local agreement in April,2005 which created the Family Justice Center. The Center has been in operation since December, 2005.
