History:
FISH began in 1972 in response to the high unemployment rate in Pierce County. A small cluster of churches formed area food banks which were coordinated through Associated Ministries in Tacoma/Pierce County. As the need for food assistance grew so did the organization of FISH Food Banks. In 1982 FISH Food Banks incorporated and became its' own Non-Profit agency. In 2006 we provided food to approximately 270,000 Pierce County residents in need.
