Our mission is to create schools as centers of learning, providing education and enrichment opportunities to students, families and community members. Our programs provide support and enrichment for student learning, one-to-one relationships with caring adults and an After School Program.

Description:
We are a unique, non-profit coalition of community partners and six public elementary schools that work together to enhance the potential for children to succeed. Powerful Partners works to create schools as centers for community learning and to provide extraordinary educational and enrichment opportunities for children, families and the community. Our programs include Tutoring, Mentoring, an After School Program and annual Community Events in Arts and Science and Literacy.

History:
Powerful Partners, established in 1998, developed out of a need to leverage a small amount of extra school funding to six elementary schools in the northwest quadrant of the Edmonds School District. The schools had a vision of a higher level of cooperation which would greatly increase the number of opportunities for families and children. A Board of Directors was established that included principals, teachers, parents and community members and a part-time Executive Director was hired. Initial projects included Powerful Tutors, a Science Expo, Powerful Arts and Family Resource Advocacy. Partnerships were formed with RSVP, the City of Edmonds, and the Family Support Center of Lynnwood. A full-time Executive Director was hired in 2001 and programs were expanded to include a mentoring program.
