 Provide one-on-one advocacy and crisis intervention to victims of crime and their loved ones. The volunteer victim advocate is responsible for responding to victim crisis calls and for providing one-on-one advocacy and crisis intervention. Advocates provide support to victims throughout the criminal justice process, advocate for victims with the criminal justice system, with employers, landlords and others, as needed. Assist victims with obtaining resources for basic needs (clothing, food, shelter). All victim advocates receive 40 hours of free training. This training provides information on advocacy and crisis intervention skills, grief due to homicide, and the criminal justice system.
