Description:
The Charter Oak Chapter of the American Red Cross provides emergency relief to victims of disasters in 83 towns across northern and eastern Connecticut. Headquarters for the Charter Oak Chapter are in Farmington with a Service Center in Waterford. The Chapter also provides community disaster education, training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Water Safety, HIV/AIDS, babysitting, and other health and safety programs. The Chapter also supports the Connecticut Region Blood Services Program, emergency communications between members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families, and international social services and tracing. Volunteer opportunities are provided for adults and youth, including internships for college students and youth leadership development.
History:
Volunteers are the very foundation of the American Red Cross and include board and committee members, health and safety course instructors, office volunteers, trained responders, and more. The Red Cross depends on volunteers to help accomplish our mission of helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Charter Oak Chapter, with its Southeastern Connecticut branch office located in New London, offers a variety of exciting opportunities, at all levels of the organization, for volunteers to make a difference.
