Childcare Center caring for children ages 3 months through 12 years in Southeastern Connecticut, with an emphasis on helping the families with the greatest economic need. Riverfront is licensed by the State of Connecticut and Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

History:
Originally opened in 1983 as the YWCA child care center caring for only 20 preschool children, Riverfront separated off from the YWCA in 1992 and incorporated into a private child care center serving 77 children ages 3 months through 12 years, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. (year round). In 2003 the program added 20 more preschool spaces to bring the total current program enrollment to 97 children. The program has a sliding scale so that families with economic need can have scholarship money allocated to them to make their weekly fee less. Seventy-one percent of the current families (2004) are single parent families and seventy-eight percent of families are receiving sliding scale scholarship assistance to make their fee affordable.
