Norwich Human Services is a municipal multi-service social service agency dedicated to helping Norwich residents improve the quality of life in their community. Our three divisions are Adult and Family Services, Youth and Family Services and the Rose City Senior Center. Norwich Human Services also oversees the Norwich Municipal Child Care Center.
Description:
The Rose City Senior Center provides education and recreation programs for seniors, as well as preventative health services, transportation and outreach services. The Youth and Family division provides individual and family counseling services free of charge to residents. A Young Parents Programs offers support and case management for teen parents. Adult and Family Services offers case management service, basic needs assistance such as rental and utility assistance, a community food pantry (M-F, 8:30am-4pm), and various other safety net services including the pharmacy fund, and back pack program. A Hospitality Center is available during the winter months, providing shelter to homeless Norwich adults. During the months of February and March, Norwich Human Services is a VITA site, offering tax assistance with simple returns to low-income Norwich families and individuals (evenings, by appointment only). History:
Norwich Human Services has over 65 years of providing assistance to Norwich residents. Our agency plays a leadership role in partnering with other local and state agencies to coordinate such activities as the Greater Norwich Parent Leadership Team, the Children's First Initiative, the Norwich Safety Net Team, Norwich Newcomers, the Community Care Team, the Family Support Team and various other collaboratives that address the health and economic well being of Norwich individuals and families.
