To provide programs that empower youth from diverse backgrounds and communities to realize their full potential and to function effectively as caring, self-directed individuals responsible to themselves and others.
Description:
Camp Fire USA Wathana Council helps boys and girls throughout Southeast Michigan develop positive self-esteem, self-confidence, leadership skills and acquire the needed resources & knowledge to survive in today's changing communities. We offer Neighborhood Summer Day Camps, After-School, Self-Reliance Courses, Club, Family Community Club, and Resident Outdoor Camp during the out-of-school hours to deter youth away from drugs, alcohol, violence, crime, pregnancy and the lack of adult supervision.
History:
Camp Fire USA Wathana Council was founded in 1910 to offer girls encouragement and training to become confident effective leaders. In 1975, boys were included, making Camp Fire USA an all-inclusive youth focused organization. Camp Fire USA has remained steadfast in its commitment and mission to develop caring, confident youth and future leaders.
