Provide homework help to youth in grades 1 - 12 at a Detroit Public Library branch in southwest Detroit. 1-2 hours per day, between 3:30 - 8:00 p.m., one or more days per week, Mon - Thurs. Stipends may be available. Volunteers must have a strong academic background and an ability to instruct and encourage youth. Some college preferred. Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 3 months during the school year. An initial orientation session of approximately two hours is required. Mercy Education Project is in southwest Detroit, on Howard between 6th & Trumbull. We are in the 2nd block from the Howard Street/Cobo Roof exit off the Lodge (10) freeway. There is a fenced parking lot with a secured entrance to the building off of Abbott Street, which is west of Howard.
