Volunteers are needed to help plant shrubs and other vegetation outside of GRDC's new headquarters. Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation is moving into its new location after residing within a local church for over ten years. The move is a historical event in GRDC's history. The new GRDC was built “green,” and contains many elements that are sensitive to the environment and the conservation of natural resources. The new building is highly insulated to save on heating and cooling costs, the windows are high efficiency and the roof is light-colored and reflective to reduce the cooling load in the summer. Skylights are also an important part of the building design, as they maximize the use of natural light and reduce the amount of electricity used in artificial lighting. Also, recycled content is being used as often as possible in the building design. Volunteers interested in helping to putt the finishing touches on GRDC's new headquarters by engaging in our landscaping project are encouraged to contact a staff member for more information. Heavy lifting is not a requirement for this project. However, volunteers can expect to engage in a large amount of bending and/or kneeling.
