	Operation ABC Volunteer Trainings Operation ABC is an initiative that brings together school districts, local unions, nonprofits, corporations and volunteers to improve the reading levels of first and second graders in metro Detroit. This community-based initiative will recruit and train 1,000 volunteers and mobilize them in classrooms across the region as reading tutors. We would like to invite you to participate in our Operation ABC volunteer training. This training will equip volunteers with the information that they need to tutor in the schools as well as provide a base of information for volunteers that would like to take an additional volunteer role and become a Operation ABC tutor trainer. Sign Up Operation ABC Volunteers Needed United Way is recruiting 2,000 volunteers to become trained reading tutors that will go into local schools and work with first and second graders to improve their reading skills. Volunteers must participate in required training and commit to volunteer­ing an hour at a time during the school day for one, three or five days a week. Sign Up
