We need volunteers to commit to a three-hour shift between 11 a.m and 2 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. You would greet pet owners, review their qualification documents (Medicaid card, EBT card, student registration, pay stubs, etc.), complete an authorization form, a voucher or vouchers, and a veterinary release form. You would then collect the co-pay amount, write a cash receipt, and give the voucher(s), release form, and a copy of the receipt form to pet owner.
Because the number of clients coming in during any shift varies, you can be extremely busy or have slow days. You may be asked to fold newsletters or perform other clerical tasks, but you may also feel free to read or study if you are not busy.
The most important aspect of this Volunteer Opportunity is a commitment to the time and date. Our telephone message clearly states our office hours. Therefore, we need to have someone at the office consistently.

We welcome anyone who believes in our mission and is willing to commit to one shift per week. The majority of our volunteers are retired, but it is also a good opportunity for a college student. Volunteers must be cordial, polite, non-judgemental, and comfortable asking people about their income status.
We provide all necessary training, and an experienced volunteer will work with a new volunteer until he or she has learned the routine.
