General Information
Agency: Camino De Vida, Center For HIV Services
Program name: PREVENTION
Description : A very important part of the program at Camino de Vida is prevention. Getting the word out to people before they could contract the disease means fewer people becoming infected. The Camino de Vida prevention program works to put the word out about how individuals can become infected with the virus, and the best ways to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. The prevention program includes positive relationships, effective self management, a speaker’s bureau, and other important information. For more information about the prevention program, ask to talk to one of our prevention specialists.

Testing and counseling are also major components to our program. Anyone who believes that he or she might be infected with HIV/AIDS is welcome to be tested at our offices. No appointment is necessary, and testing is conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Testing is completely anonymous, and information will only be shared with the individual tested. It will take approximately two weeks for a test result to be confirmed. In the event that there is a positive result, further counseling will be done in order to assure the individual that he or she is not alone. Each person will receive the proper follow up necessary to obtain effective treatment and case management for him or her. Most importantly, case managers and prevention specialists will be available to talk and to assist each person through this difficult time.
