To provide high school students a high quality learning experience that demonstrates and personalizes the value of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business skills, the core of our free enterprise economic system.
Description:
For one week, July 7 through the 12 this summer at Northwest Nazarene University, motivated high school aged entrepreurs and educators will be immersed in 6 intensive days of fiscal, entrepreneurial and free enterprise training. From dynamic guest speakers to computer simulation programs, camp attendees learn first-hand the principals of free enterprise – and what it takes to succeed in business. Students are well-chaperoned by corporate managers, experienced high school teachers, and high-character second year students. This is a year-round grassroots effort with only 1 full-time staff member.
We need volunteers to fulfill:
- Roles as Company advisors, advising a group of students in business competentions for the entire week.
- Judges for various events; 1 or 2 time committments during the week of the program.
- Speakers presenting entrepreneurial ideas to students in vaired fields.
- Regional volunteers to help with a personal financial literacy game being used around the state of Idaho as a learning and recruiting tool
- Volunteers to help on our planning steering committee. We meet on the 1st Wed of the month with a free conference line for volounteers in other regions.
- Office help with mailings, phone calls to update lists for alumni contact information, computer help sending reminder emails to schools, students and sponsors. Invitation mailings for the banquet. Days and times can be arranged to fit your schedule.
History:
Since 1978 nearly 13,000 high school students and educators have attended Idaho Business Week. Many of these students and educators have gone on to become business owners, corporate executives, and community leaders. Many families have sent 2nd and 3rd generations to our program because of the motivational guidance their 1st student received.
