DrugFree Idaho (DFI) is a non-profit organization working to create a drug-free culture in our schools, workplaces and community. We focus on preventing substance abuse, enriching families, and positively impacting our community.
Description:
In our schools, DFI is committed to increasing the number of drug-free youth by sponsoring alcohol and other drug education classes for youth and their parents, organizing Red Ribbon Campaign events, and hosting positive anti-drug activities like YOUTHFEST. In the workplace, DrugFree Idaho is a third party administrator of drug-free workplace programs for employers throughout the state, and provides both supervisor training and employee education regarding substance abuse prevention. In the community, DFI staff, volunteers and School Resource officers deliver community presentations, participate in health fairs, conferences and exhibits throughout the Treasure Valley.
History:
DFI was incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) in 1999 by a group of community, business and law enforcement leaders who shared a desire to create a drug-free culture within our community by getting substance abuse prevention programs into the workplace. In 2005, DFI merged with PAYADA (Parents and Youth Against Drug Abuse), the substance abuse prevention education arm of the Boise Police Department. Together, these two programs allow us the opportunity to take a drug-free message to both parents and youth ultimately enriching families and positively impacting our community.
