The Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center's mission is to promote water stewardship by teaching people of all ages how to protect and conserve our precious resources for future generations.
Description:
Opening May 2008, the Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center will feature innovative, hands-on exhibits and programs that will introduce visitors to the water cycle, the historic use of water, the wastewater treatment process, and how we can become watershed stewards. Located at the West Boise Wastewater Treatment Plant, Boise WaterShed will be a LEED building certified by the US Green Building Council. Its Theater and Library will enhance the visitor experience, while the dramatic art pieces and landscaped grounds will complete the Boise WaterShed's message of conservation and preservation.
History:
The Boise WaterShed was created thorough a unique partnership between Boise City Public Works (to fund building construction) and the non-profit organization Boise WaterShed Exhibits, Inc. (to raise funds for the innovative exhibits) The building is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in May.
