The Summer of Hope sponsors older orphans from the Philippines for the Summer of Hope—a four week visit to the U.S. where these children can meet American families who often end up adopting, mentoring or staying connected with them for life
Description:
Summer of Hope is administered by Sacred Portion Children's Outreach a 501 c 3 organization. In the Old Testament God extended His heart and made provision for orphaned and abandoned children through His people. According to His statutes, the Israelites gave out of their resources a special offering for orphans, widows and others in need....those who had no portion or inheritance. Founded on this principle, The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing for the needy children of the world who are without homes and families.
History:
The Sacred Portion was founded by Craig and Jan Druckenmiller in 1998 in response to a call on their hearts to work on behalf of children without homes and families. As a child caring ministry, we seek to create healthy, secure environments in which children living in institutions can grow and develop as normally as possible. In addition to providing the basic necessities of food, clothing, shelter and medical care, our aim is to see that children also have the opportunity to receive an education to prepare them for the future. When possible, we seek to reunite children with their birth families or to find loving, permanent homes through adoption. Above all, our desire is to give these children hope through hearing about and coming to know the personal, loving God who cares for them.
