Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS is committed to preventing the transmission of HIV and AIDS. We accomplish this through education, public awareness, testing, and providing supportive services to infected and affected individuals.
Description:
a.l.p.h.a., allies linked for the prevention of HIV and AIDS, provides a central downtown location for off-site services that are presently provided mainly in West Boise. Our goal is to fill in the gaps by supporting services already in place in order to strengthen and solidify our shared mission.
a.l.p.h.a. works to fulfill it's mission by offering testing 3 days a week and networking with area organizations that share, at least in part We want to prevent HIV transmission and provide for the needs of HIV positive people and people living with AIDS. Our services include referrals, education, testing, networking, event planning, fund raising.
History:
a.l.p.h.a. was conceptualized by it's founder, Duane Quintana, and quickly gained support of fellow community leaders and activists. Duane envisioned a comfortable referral center for HIV testing and counseling, STD/STI screening, support groups, workshops, trainings, conferences, and whatever else our future might hold. It is a non-clinical environment, opened evenings and weekends in order to broaden the public availability, knowledge, and perception.
With more than three years of operation a.l.p.h.a. is always growing and gaining more support. a.l.p.h.a. has a large and active volunteer base that draws people from a wide variety of backgrounds. We welcome all volunteers and work hard to place you in a position that you will find rewarding and satisfying.
