The mission of Dress for Success is to advance low-income women's economic and social development and to encourage self-sufficiency through career development and employment retention. Kids Kloset is a place where the mothers we serve can go and receive clothing for their children at no cost.
Description:
Clients are referred by other non-profit organizations and are suited in appropriate workplace attire and coached in basic interview etiquette. After successfully gaining employment these women are given another outfit and are invited to join the Professional Women's group where they meet other professional Women to network with and gain knowledge that will help them in their jobs. Dress for Success® Boise Valley has a new program to provide children's clothing at no cost to clients who receive other services from DFS. In 2005 there were 362 women that came through Dress for Success®, they had 520 dependents (children). It was apparent to the directors of Dress for Success®, that the need to provide clothing for the children of these client's was critical as many cannot afford the Thrift Shops. Kids Kloset, located right next door to Dress for Success®, will give two outfits per child as well as new underwear, socks and shoes if possible. A third component of Dress for Success® is the mentoring program for young ladies ages 12-18, wanting to serve their community as well as learn the value of how to approach the work place and the importance of appropriate attire in the work place. Mentored by the Dress for Success® Personal Shoppers, these young ladies will help clients visiting the Kids Kloset, with clothing choices for their children.
