Giraffe Laugh is a private, non-profit organization, dedicated to strengthening young families by providing quality, affordable childcare and parent education to families of all incomes.
Description:
Giraffe Laugh has two locations in Boise, both near downtown. We serve children 0-6 of all incomes by providing a scholarship to income eligible families, giving them access to our early childhood care and education. We have a food bank on site, and we provide parent education as components to strengthen families in need. We love community involvement in any way possible. Some people love to come in and rock the babies, while others are willing to do necessary projects, such as building the playground equipment, coming for a clean up day, helping a child on a computer and more. It only takes a great imagination to figure out how one can be involved. We also need people to help with fundraising, events and at the Hyde Park Street Fair which is a three day fundraising event that takes many, many man hours.
History:
Giraffe Laugh was originally a part of El-Ada Community Action Agency as a drop in childcare. In 1995 we expanded to a full and part day program that still takes children on a drop in basis. Our goal went from assisting a family briefly, to impacting their lives, long term through a developmentally appropriate program for children, as well as providing food and education to parents to strengthen families of all incomes.
