Northwest Animal Companions Inc's mission is to establish a No-Kill animal sanctuary to promote compassion, respect and responsibility toward all companion animals through education, spaying, neutering and adoptions. Our vision is that all companion animals are treated with compassion and respect and are valued, life-long family members. The mindset that companion animals are disposable must be changed. Euthanasia as an acceptable form of population control will cease as people begin to make informed decisions when committing to a pet, and large-scale spay and neuter programs are in place.
Description:
We are a non-profit no-kill companion animal group. We are all volunteers. Northwest Animal Companions (NAC) has 200 acres of donated land that we intend to build a no-kill earth friendly sanctuary on. At this point we are looking at earth berm structures, passive solar power and windmills. In 2006 we spay/ neutered 900 animals and placed 400 in loving homes. We currently have a low cost spay and neuter program, participate in pet of the week on channel 2, have vaccine clinics, foster animals till they are adopted, rescue abused animals and nurse them back to health and TNR (trap, neuter and release feral cats, we have 7 feral cat stations that we keep food, water and shelter for the cats 365 days of the year.
History:
We were formed in 2206, by three individuals. Since that time we have been given 200 acres of land to build our sanctuary. Compared to agencies our size we are very competitive with the amount of spay/ neuters and adoptions we do. We feel so strongly about spay and neutering as the solution to the over pet population that we adjust the $20 cat neuter fee, and $35 cat spay fee to what an individual can afford. Dogs spay and neuter price are low cost also and are figured by the animals weight. We want to solve the needless euthansia of healthy animals in the valley and move on to make the entire state of Boise a no- kill state. Our goal is to have our first of 5 earth friendly buildings up and running on our 10 year anniversary in 2008. Currently we are having the soil tested as per code, and moving forward with the paperwork and testing in the order it is prescribed. Local architects have drawn the buildings and we are working to generate the funds, while saving animals lives daily.
