To offer safety, support, shelter, assistance and mentoring to victims of violence and families in need or crisis. To fulfill our motto - Living With Purpose & Dignity - for every family or individual.
Description:
City LIfe is a community and faith-based advocacy agency in Gem County. We offer multiple services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as help for families in need or crisis. We do this through advocacy, crisis intervention, mentoring, court advocacy, referrals, networking, food, shelter, classes, legal assistance and much more. We do community outreach programs, provide educational materials for the community and distribute to multiple businesses and agencies. City Life also has Thrift Store. Through this store we are able to raise funds to help us continue and expand our program as well as providing clothing, household items, furniture and more to families in need. In addition, we have a food pantry which allows us to supplement services offered by others and to have emergency food on hand for victims. We offer a variety of classes for our clients including Personal Freedom, Who I Am, Boundaries, Boundaries With Kids, Telling Yourself the Truth, Free from the Past, and Anger Management. We also do Case Management through Access to Recovery and provide recovery support services. As Court Advocates, we are able to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with the legal processes they may encounter and give them the support, encouragement and strength to help them succeed. We have an excellent working relationship with other agencies such as the Gem County Prosecutor, Emmett Police, Gem County Sheriff, Health & Welfare, Probation & Parole, Emmett Food Bank, Western Idaho Community Action Program, local churches and many others. We have volunteers who help us with the Thrift Store, fund raising activities, community education, distribution of educational materials. In 2007 we will have a community event taking place in April and September and will do this in conjunction with the Gem County Prosecutor and several other agencies. This will include a Town Hall Meeting and fund-raising dinner in April and a Chili Cook Off in September.
History:
City Life was founded in 2002 and began full time operations in September of 2003. In 2002 we had begun asking professionals in the community to help us identify the gaps in services for families in need. As a result, City Life took the direction of working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. We applied for funding, completed training, affiliated ourselves with other agencies providing similar services in other communities and began developing a network of providers in our County. Over the past four years we have developed a strong program, expanded our services and staff and have an excellent working relationship with agencies in our community and with those outside our community so that we can cover our clients with services and fulfill our mission.
