The mission of the Idaho Wildlife Federation is to promote the conservation and protection of our natural resources, wildlife, and wildlife habitat for current and future generations.

Description:
The Idaho Wildlife Federation (IWF)is a statewide wildlife conservation organization with an office in Boise. We have one part time staff member to serve our members. The IWF advocates for wildlife and wildlife habitat in all venues, including the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. We monitor legislation in the state legislature and in the U.S. Congress, providing input to state legislators and the Idaho Congressional delegation. IWF works with other conservation organizations in fulfilling their mission. IWF also provides education and information for the public regarding wildlife and their habitat. Our membership represents diverse interests in wildlife conservation.

History:
The Idaho Wildlife Federation organized as a nonprofit wildlife organization in 1938 and have been continually in operation since that time. We have been active on behalf of wildlife in wilderness management, public lands management and projects over the years to enhance wildlife habitats and populations.

Our leaders have been in the forefront in major environmental issues since 1938, beginning with the creation of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission in 1938 and in issues such as designation of wilderness (1964), Federal Land Planning and Management Act (1976)federal legislation that changed public land policy for the first time since the establishment of the federal public estate. The IWF has been a major participant in most of the major events regarding wildlife management and public land management.
