Corpus Christi House is a daytime hospitality center for the homeless in Boise. It fills the gap in the hours when the overnight shelters are closed. It is a place where the homeless can escape the winter cold and summer heat, and it provides laundry, showers, snacks, and communication facilities (telephone, fax, computers, and mail).
Description:
Corpus Christi House is staffed by a group of volunteers from various religious and community support organizations. The support is provided at no cost to the users. The 2500-SF center is supported primarily by local churches and individuals. The center is open 6 days every week from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Services provided include:
- Hospitality, friendship, and dignity for all guests
- Men's & women's shower facilities
- Laundry facilities
- Clothing
- Mail distribution, message delivery, and local telephone access
- Computer center for correspondence and learning
- Hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages and snacks
- A facility for relaxation and conversation.
- Assistance to those who are willing and able to get back on their feet
- Assistance in preparation of resumes and GED preparation and testing
History:
The movement for Corpus Christi House began in 1999 with a group of multi-denominational volunteers that provided the morning breakfast at Community House. A facility was located in Boise in 2003 that was close to Community House. The facility was completely remodeled and began service for the homeless in Boise on December 6, 2003. CCH was dedicated on June 6th, 2006 by Mayor Bieter and is current serving the homeless in Boise 6 days of each week.

CC House is an EXCELLENT facility which does a marvelous job in assisting the less fortunate of Boise. Staff are competent and professional and provide a variety of services. This is a great refuge for the down and out and volunteers do make a positive difference in the lives of the patrons of CC house. posted on July 5, 2006 |
