AAFV works to eliminate violence in families and homes by empowering men, women and children to make positive life choices through advocacy, support, education, awareness and community involvement.
Description:
Advocates Against Family Violence is a community based non-profit organization that operates Hope's Door, a shelter for women and children, provides intervention and counseling to victims and families of domestic violence and sexual assault. Hope's Door has 28 bedrooms set on 3.5 acres. Women and their children can stay at Hopes Door for 90 days in emergency housing and then can transfer and stay in transitional housing for up to 2 years. We offer life skills classes, support groups, parenting classes, a safety planning class, and a children's group to address the needs of the children who witness domestic violence.
