Our Prepared and Perishable program coordinates volunteers that pick up surplus food from local restaurants and caterers, transporting it to feeding sites in Boise. These volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that the homeless and near-homeless individuals and families in Boise have access to a sufficient amount of nutritional food. The program assists families in staying together through one of the most stressful times they will ever face. Chefs to the Rescue volunteers must have a valid driver's license. They must be 21 years of age or older. They must undergo a safe-food handling orientation and training, which the Foodbank provides. They must observe standards of confidentiality and sensitivity to the plight of those who are homeless. They must be able to lift 20 pounds. We are especially in need of volunteers who can work mornings on a regular basis - even just half an hour a week. This opportunity is sponsored by: The Idaho Foodbank
