The committee's mission is to hold a Native American Heritage Festival for the first time at Wayne Community College. Through traditional ceremonies that focus on dance and music, we hope to educate people about Native American culture in a way that is both authentic and enjoyable. Also called a “Pow Wow,” this type of ceremony has a long and rich history across various tribal cultures, giving Native Americans a chance to come together in a spirit of unity and sharing amongst themselves and with the public. Authentic clothing styles will be worn, representing various tribes, regions and time frames. Vendors will also be selling traditional Native American crafts and foods inspired by various Native cultures.

Faculty and staff members of Wayne Community College, the Arts Council of Wayne County, and Goldsboro Travel and Tourism are working to make this a special event.
